Laser Hair Removal
What is Laser Hair Removal For?
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses light energy absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle to generate heat and reduce future hair growth. This treatment is suitable for all genders and can be performed on multiple areas of the body.
Laser hair removal decreases hair density over time, slows regrowth, and improves overall skin smoothness.

OUR APPROACH
Laser hair removal works by targeting pigment within the hair follicle. Heat energy damages the follicle, reducing its ability to regrow hair.
At Lushful Aesthetics, we utilize the Cynosure EliteIQ, a dual-wavelength YAG/Alexandrite system considered the gold standard in laser hair removal. This system is safe for all skin types.
For optimal results, most patients require 8–12 sessions spaced 4–8 weeks apart. Treatment plans are customized based on hair density, hair color, skin tone, and individual goals. The Full Picture: Treatments That Pair with Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal creates a cleaner, smoother foundation for intimate-area aesthetics, but hair reduction is often only one part of a patient’s overall goal. For patients seeking a more complete genital or perianal rejuvenation result, these treatments address skin tone, appearance, and comfort together.
Anal Bleaching – Creating a More Even Skin Tone
Many patients pursue laser hair removal in the genital and perianal region to achieve a cleaner, more polished appearance. Once unwanted hair is reduced, variations in skin tone often become more noticeable. Anal Bleaching is designed to address pigmentation concerns in the perianal area and surrounding intimate skin, helping create a more uniform appearance. When combined with laser hair removal, patients can address both unwanted hair and discoloration as part of a comprehensive aesthetic plan.
HoleTox® – Comfort and Confidence Beyond Hair Removal
For some patients, intimate-area confidence extends beyond appearance alone. HoleTox® uses botulinum toxin to relax the anal sphincter, helping reduce tension and improve comfort for appropriate candidates. Patients who undergo perianal laser hair removal often discover HoleTox® while exploring other intimate wellness treatments designed to enhance confidence and quality of life. Together, these treatments address both the appearance of the area and the functional concerns that may affect day-to-day comfort.
Whether your goals are aesthetic, functional, or both, our team can help you build a treatment plan that aligns with your anatomy, concerns, and desired outcome.

At Lushful Aesthetics, a quality NYC med spa, we chose our laser because it is a dual laser and the gold standard for treating darker skin tones effectively, efficiently, and safely. Many other lasers are not suitable for treating patients with darker complexions as there is a risk of hyperpigmentation.
The results of laser hair removal permanently destroy your hair follicles, meaning you will not grow these particular hairs again. This does NOT mean that new ones won’t grow. So it’s possible—especially after a few months—that you’ll notice new hairs growing in your treated areas, even if they aren’t the same as the ones that have been removed. Many factors, including age, gender, hormone levels, and metabolism will affect your body’s ability to create new hair follicles. Most patients who want to maintain a smooth appearance will go on a maintenance plan that usually consists of a laser session every few months as opposed to every few weeks. Otherwise, most patients see very little hair regrowth and many think it’s fine as is.
We recommend buzzing 2-3 inches below the butt with a trimmer at a medium length to create a fade. You may need to experiment to find the best length for your aesthetic.
Yes. Your provider can customize the shape and style of your pubic hair however you’d like. Some people will leave hair above, but like to get the inner legs done to help reduce ingrown hairs and razor burns. Regardless of your aesthetic preferences, just let us know and we’ll customize your laser hair removal treatment to your preference.
Several laser hair removal devices have become more efficient over time. Unfortunately, hair removal lasers are expensive and many other providers have decided not to upgrade their technology. We still sometimes hear about some places using IPL machines, which are not designed for laser hair removal. Here at Lushful Aesthetics, we utilize the Cynosure EliteIQ, which is the gold standard for laser hair removal. This means we can fully customize the settings to your skin and hair type to deliver the best results possible.
Sun exposure and antibiotics should be avoided for 2 weeks before receiving laser hair removal. Skin that is exposed to the sun is more sensitive to the laser. Tanned skin is also more difficult to treat when it comes to seeing results. Therefore, we ask med spa patients to try to be at their baseline skin color. Patients must be off Accutane for at least one year before being treated. Patients should ideally shave 1-3 days before their appointment. Same-day shaving is not recommended, as the skin is more irritated and it’s harder for the laser to find the hair follicle to treat. Waxing, sugaring, and chemical hair removal (like Nair) should be discontinued at least a month before laser hair removal treatment.
Men have more active testosterone than women, especially younger men. Testosterone plays a major role in creating new hair follicles. This makes laser hair removal for men a longer process that requires more sessions than you’d see with a female patient. Men should also expect to maintain their results with 3-4 treatments a year once they reach their desired outcome.
Laser hair removal feels like a rubber band snap on the skin – although each patient’s comfort level is different. We use a medical laser that is highly effective, extremely adjustable, and designed for hair removal to make the experience comfortable for our patients while delivering great results. Depending on the areas treated, we often adjust the settings throughout the treatment for more sensitive areas. We offer the latest in laser technology, which incorporates an industry-leading cooling technology to improve comfort.
Each patient is unique. Various factors affect hair reduction, including the amount of hair at baseline, the color of the hair and skin tone, and the patient’s pain tolerance. Patients undergoing hormone replacement for testosterone will also have greater difficulty with hair reduction and will require more sessions to achieve their goals. The patients who see the best and fastest results have dark hair and lighter skin, as the laser setting can be safely set at a higher setting. That being said, our laser is equipped to treat all skin tones, and all of our patients have been satisfied with their laser results.
We sell our laser hair removal packages in sets of 6. Most patients see amazing results in 8-12 sessions. It varies dramatically depending on the patient’s baseline hair density, skin tone, hair color, and pain tolerance.
Unfortunately, people with white, grey, light blonde, and light red hair, won’t see results from laser hair removal. The laser targets pigment in the hair follicle and these tones lack pigment.
We can treat virtually any area with hair. Common areas we regularly treat are unwanted facial hair, back & shoulders, pubic region, bikini/speedo area, butt, and arms & legs.
We regularly treat this as part of the pubic-clean-up or Brazilian laser hair removal treatments and patients have seen great results.
Lasering the scrotum is safe. You will want to choose the public clean-up or Brazilian laser hair removal treatment to have your scrotum treated.
We recommend patients avoid exercise, sun exposure, and hot showers for at least 4 hours. The goal is just to keep the area cool and dry. Apply SPF, as you always should, to the area if it’s exposed to the sun.
No. Unfortunately, since the laser targets pigment, running it over a tattoo would ruin the tattoo and possibly burn the patient. Thus these areas need to be avoided.
Full-body laser hair removal costs $700 per session, with packages starting at six sessions for $3,500. This option allows for complete customization of your treatment to address multiple areas, making it a cost-effective choice if you plan to treat more than 3 areas.
